Holidays usually last four to six weeks around Christmas. Once they’re over, you’ll need to pack up.
To keep your pre-lit tree fresh and attractive for a longer period, it’s imperative that you store it properly. An improper storage method may cause damage to artificial trees and decorations.
The following are five tips to help you extend the life of your pre-lit Christmas tree this holiday. Drink up:
Check for Warranty
Before buying an artificial tree, make sure it is covered by a warranty. The warranty information contains details about the quality of the material and how long the tree should last. Over the three- to five-year tree warranty that most companies offer, we recommend purchasing a tree with seven- to ten-year warranty.
Disassemble after use
There are usually three parts to trees made of artificial materials. It is better to store trees flat instead of stacking them. Disassemble them from top to bottom. And take care not to damage any of the sections as you unplug them.
Disassemble your tree carefully by folding the branches back so they are protected.
Replace burnouts
Make sure that pre-lit trees do not have any loose decorations or lights. It is advisable to replace any burnouts before the next Christmas period. The relatively low likelihood of LED lights burning out also extends their lifespan.
Keep them out of the box!
Artificial trees are typically stored back in their boxes after use. As the tree will stay there for 11 months and a few weeks, a storage bag would probably be the safer choice.
Store appropriately
Ensure that your tree has a cool, dry, and clean environment. Keep away from sunlight, moisture, pests, and uncontrolled environments. A basement or a closet would be an ideal place to store items.
